OBITUARY
James J. "Jim" Reser, age 76, passed away on Monday September 2, 2013, at his home in Lincoln, Missouri. He was born on July 17, 1937 in Urbana, Missouri, the only son of the late Oscar Joseph and Mildred Hobbs Reser.
He grew up in Urbana, Missouri and graduated from Urbana High School Class of 1955. On June 16, 1957, he was united in marriage to Myra Branum at the United Methodist Church in Urbana, Missouri by Rev. Steve Gardner.
Jim and Myra made their home on a farm in Urbana and in March of 1959, Jim began working for the Missouri Department of Transportation. They moved to Lincoln in 1963 where Jim continued his employment with MODOT, becoming shed foremen and later became area supervisor retiring in 2000.
Jim was very active in church and civic affairs. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Lincoln and had served on various committees, a member and Past-Master of Shawnee Lodge #653 A.F. and A.M., receiving his 50 year membership pin in 2008, a member of the Kansas City Valley of the Scottish Rite where he was a 33rd degree Mason, a charter member of the Benton County Scottish Rite Club, member of the Osage Valley Chapter #502, Order of the Eastern Star of Warsaw, past Board member of the Benton County Health Department, past Board and President of the Lincoln Community Housing, former councilman of the City of Lincoln past member of Lincoln Producer Exchange Board and a member of the American Energy Producer's INC.
Jim is survived by his wife of 56 years, Myra, of the home, one son, Joe Reser and his wife, Cindy, of Lincoln, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Jim Reser will be at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home, Lincoln, MO., with Rev. Richard Dimond officiating. Burial will be in the Lincoln Cemetery, Lincoln, MO. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 4, 2013, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M., with Masonic Services at 8:00 P.M., at the Davis-Miller Funeral Home.
