Ill Brother Robert "Bob" Lee Cowee, 82, passed away Saturday, December 1, 2012, of cancer. He was born September 22, 1930, in St. Louis, where he lived until he enlisted with the U.S. Marines. He served two tours of duty for a total of six years, honorably discharged as Sergeant in 1953. He attended University of the Missouri, Columbia where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. He also studied advertising and finance at Washington University. Bob had a long, successful career in finance, working for First National Bank of St. Louis as assistant vice president; as a manager at Halsey Stuart; as a vice president at Kidder Peabody; and as a senior vice president at Centerre Bank of Kansas City. After he "retired" he served as executive secretary of the Kansas City Scottish Rite bodies where he was also a financial adviser. He invested for clients as a registered representative/broker for Perkins, Smart & Boyd until 2010.
In 1953 he married Doris Finke, who died in 2005. They lived most of their life together in Leawood, KS. Bob is survived by his three children Terry (Patricia) Cowee, Jeff (Judy) Cowee, and Jane (Jerry Moser) Cowee. He also leaves a sister, Jean Mitchell; grandchildren Tera, Jessica, Jennifer, Nick, Scott, and Nick; and three great granddaughters, Katherine Clair, McKinley, and Harper. He was honored with a Royal Order of Jesters Rose ceremony and military honors followed. Memorial contributions were requested to be made to the Ararat Shrine Tele-Medicine Room.
Ill Brother Cowee was a 33rd Degree Mason. He was a member of the Valley of Kansas City Scottish Rite, Ararat Shrine Temple and its Million Dollar Patrol Unit, Order of Quetzalcoatl, and the Royal Order of Jesters, where he served as director in 1990. He was also a member of the Kansas City Municipal Bond Club, assisting in forming the organization in 1968 and serving as its first president. He was a member of the Kansas City Sertoma Club, and the Sentinel Chapter of the Order of the DeMolay in St. Louis.
