Clarence Lee Alumbaugh, 89, of Buckner, MO, passed away March 28, 2010, in Independence, MO. He was born April 12, 1920, the son of Mark and Elleva Alumbaugh. Survivors include his wife, Elva Lea Alumbaugh; sons, Mark and Gari Alumbaugh; grandchildren, Tammy Ziegelmann, Michelle Alumbaugh and Nick Alumbaugh; three great grandchildren and many family and friends. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps during World War II and was among the second wave to hit the beach of Iwo Jima remaining through that campaign. He worked for Butler Manufacturing, retiring after 39 yrs. He was also very active in the Masonic Lodge, serving as Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons in Missouri and received his 33 degree in the Scottish Rite Masons. Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. Wed., March 31, 2010, at Chapel of Memories Funeral Home, Grain Valley, MO, with a visitation prior to services at 2:00. He will be laid to rest with Military Honors at "Jackson County Veteran's Field of Honor" in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Grain Valley, MO.
