MW Brother Thaddeus Burtis Landon resided on a farm 15 miles east of Atchison, Kansas. He moved with his parents to a farm in Washington County, Kansas and received the equivalent of a Quaker high school education in Quaker Academy, Washington, Kansas. He taught in a country district school for four years while studying law and stenography. He continued his study of law in a lawyer's office and was admitted to the bar in Washington County, Kansas in 1898.
In 1901 Thaddeus Landon moved to Topeka, Kansas to become a private secretary for Kansas Supreme Court Judge Cunningham. He married in 1902 and in 1903 moved to Kansas City, Missouri to practice law and he was appointed Assistant United States Attorney in the Western District of Missouri from 1911 to l 1914, after which he resumed private practice. In 1920 he was elected a circuit judge in Jackson County, Missouri, serving a six year term until 1927. He served as vice-president and trust officer for the New England National Bank and Trust Company in Kansas City, Missouri until the end of 1928 when he again returned to private practice. In 1929 he entered the firm of Johnson, Lucas, Landon and Graves.
RW Brother Landon was raised in Temple Gate Lodge #299 in 1909 and served as Master of that lodge in 1915. He was initially appointed to the Grand Lodge line in 1922 and after the usual appointments became Grand Master of the Grand Lodge of Missouri in 1931. His history In the Scottish Rite of Kansas City began in 1920 when he became a 32° Master of the Royal Secret in the Consistory of Western Missouri #2. In 1925 he was invested Knight Commander of the Court of Honour. He served as Wise Master, Council of Rose Croix in 1932 and in 1934 as Master of Kadosh of the Consistory. In 1931 he was coroneted 33° Inspector General Honorary.
