Robert Trimble (1777-1828) Associate Justice, Supreme Court of the U.S., 1826-28. He was born in Berkeley Co., Virginia. His parents moved to Kentucky when he was a child. He was largely self-educated. Taught school, studied law, and was licensed to practice in 1803. He settled in Paris, Kentucky that year. In 1808 he became judge of the court of appeals, and in 1810 was appointed chief justice of Kentucky. He was a U.S. district attorney in 1813, and Federal judge of the state in 1816-26.

Brother Tremble was a member of Union Lodge No. 16, Paris, Kentucky, being raised Aug. 2, 1809, and later served as master of the lodge.
