Wiley Blount Rutledge was a Justice of the US Supreme Court, 1943-49. He was born July 20, 1894 in Cloverport, Kentucky. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin in 1914, and University of Colorado in 1922. He taught in high schools of Indiana, New Mexico, and Colorado, 1915-22. He was admitted to bar in 1922 and began the practice at Boulder, Colorado. He taught law at the University of Colorado, 1924-26, and at Washington University (St. Louis, Mo.), 1926-35. Was acting dean of the latter, 1930-31, and dean 1913-35. From 1935-39 he was dean of the college of law at the State University of Iowa. In 1939 he became associate justice of U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Colorado, retaining that bench until named to the supreme court bench in 1943.

He was a member of Boulder Lodge No. 45, Boulder, Colorado, receiving degrees, Sept. 9, 23, October 19, 1921.
